Watch the MLPA process with a keen eye.
Jun. 1 2009, 2:36 PM
Today, news broke of some dirty pool in the RSG process of forming the closure area maps. Only six were supposed to be voted through, but when the enviro map was shot down, the rules were bent to keep it in the process.

We really need to be vigilant about this process and show up to every meeting to let them know that we will not be stepped on. Changing the rules when the game is almost over is ridiculous and should be investigated. If this RSG process is just a dog-and-pony show to make the consumptive users feel like they got their point across, I would rather get through the manure!

This type of manipulation of the process will not be accepted and is a slap in the face to all those following the rules of the process and working hard at this. I have a friend on the RSG board, and I can tell you that he has put his whole heart in to this thing. If this turns out to just be a sham there are going to be some real angry fellas.

Please come to the BRTF Meeting thursday and tell them that we will not stand for this. Remember to be respectfull and do not curse.

Bill,

The MLPA process has become a sham. The Central coast was an eye opener. The NCC was a joke considering that the BRTF recommended the IPA to satisfy the closure advocates/groups. The SCC is truly showing that the private funding is the driving force and that those organizations have one goal to close the better fishing areas. The science is incomplete and theory driven. Rules are changed at the convenience of those that want fishing stopped.

I wish the southern California fishing community the best of Luck with a one way process.
