Season is running a bit late this year. . .

Well, by now we are usually seeing some big scores of seabass at Catalina and some nice shots of yellowtail at Clemente. We are also used to seeing a good bite on threshers off La Jolla and consistent yellowtail off the Coronados. Although it has not taken off, we have seen a little action – just not what we wish for.

The water started to creep up in temp and the wind would blow the temp right back down again. Once again this week we had phenomenal weather, with highs close to 100 degrees. This helps for sure, but we just need some consistency to get things settled in.

Use this added time to make sure that you are stocked up for the year and the boat is serviced up and ready. With some nice weather like we’ve had these last few days, this season may just sneak right up on us! I remember so many years where we sat around complaining about water temps, and, once the temps creeped up, the fish were already here and past the points where we usually head them off. Give it time and we will be right back on track any day. Maybe today!
